Shweta Guava Hybrid Air Layered Plant

The Shweta Guava is a prestigious white-fleshed variety developed by the Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH) in Lucknow, India. It was developed through selective breeding of the Allahabad Safeda with the goal of creating a "perfected" version of the classic white guava.

In the horticultural world, it is often referred to as the "improved Safeda" because it retains the legendary flavor of its parent but with better fruit quality and higher yields.

1. Physical Characteristics
Appearance: The fruit is medium-sized, typically weighing between 200g and 225g. It is perfectly spherical (round) with a very smooth, attractive skin.

Color: When ripe, the skin turns a creamy white to pale yellow, often developing a very appealing pink blush on the side exposed to the sun.

Flesh: The interior is snow-white and very thick. It is known for having a much higher "flesh-to-seed" ratio than the original Safeda, meaning you get more fruit and fewer seeds.

Seeds: The seeds are small, soft, and much fewer in number compared to traditional varieties.

2. Flavor & Texture
Taste: It is exceptionally sweet. The TSS (Total Soluble Solids) is high, usually around 12.5° to 14° Brix, making it one of the sweetest white guavas available. It has a clean, dessert-like sweetness without much acidity.

Texture: The flesh is soft, melting, and buttery. It lacks the "grit" or stone cells often found in common guavas, providing a smooth mouthfeel similar to a ripe pear.

Aroma: It has a mild, pleasant, and sophisticated fragrance.
