Safeda mango, most commonly known as Banganapalli (or Benishan), is one of the most popular and earliest mango varieties to hit the market in India. It is primarily grown in Andhra Pradesh, which accounts for approximately 70% of its production, but it is also widely cultivated in Tamil Nadu and northern states like Uttar Pradesh.

Physical Appearance
Size & Shape: These are medium to large-sized mangoes (often 300–500g, though some can reach up to 1kg) with an obliquely oval or oblong shape.

Skin: The skin is thin, smooth, and turns a bright golden-yellow when fully ripe.

Flesh: The pulp is firm, juicy, and bright yellow or whitish-yellow. One of its most defining features is that it is virtually fibreless.

Flavor Profile
Taste: Safeda is known for a sweet and slightly tangy (mellow) flavor. It is less intensely sweet than varieties like Alphonso but is prized for its refreshing and balanced taste.

Aroma: It has a pleasant, rich aroma that signals when the fruit is at peak ripeness.

Culinary Uses
Because of its smooth, fibreless texture and large size, Safeda is considered a versatile "table" mango:

Direct Consumption: Ideal for slicing and eating fresh.

Beverages: It is a favorite for making mango shakes, smoothies, and lassi due to its high juice content.

Desserts: Frequently used in puddings, ice creams, and salads.

Processing: It is often used commercially for canning and pulping.
