1. Appearance & Color
The Exterior: When unripe, the skin is a bright, vibrant green. As it ripens, it transitions to a light yellowish-green or a soft, warm yellow. The skin is thin and completely edible, though it can sometimes harbor minor, natural blemishes due to its delicate nature.

The Interior: Slicing it open reveals its true show-stopping feature—a rich, deep pink to ruby-red flesh. The intense "roja" (red) hue is due to high levels of lycopene (the same antioxidant found in tomatoes).

2. Texture & Mouthfeel
The Flesh: The outer layer of the flesh, just under the skin, is slightly firm and crisp. Moving inward toward the center, the texture becomes incredibly soft, juicy, and almost custard-like when fully ripe.
