Physical Characteristics
Shape: Medium-sized and typically oval or oblong. It often has a slightly flattened base and a small, prominent beak at the tip.

Weight: Usually weighs between 250g to 350g.

Skin: The skin is smooth, thin, and remarkably delicate. It remains greenish-yellow even when fully ripe, sometimes developing a golden hue or a subtle reddish blush on the side exposed to the sun.

Pulp: The interior is a vibrant golden-yellow to orange. It is famous for being 100% fiberless, offering a creamy, "melt-in-the-mouth" consistency.

Flavor and Aroma
Taste: Known for an exceptionally high sugar content, the Himsagar has a rich, honey-like sweetness with very low acidity.

Aroma: It possesses a distinct, intoxicating tropical fragrance that can fill an entire room once the fruit is ripe.

Origin and Geographical Indication (GI)
The Himsagar is deeply rooted in the heritage of the Bengal region. It has received Geographical Indication (GI) tags in two different capacities:

India: Registered as Malda Khirsapati (Himsagar), primarily grown in the Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Hooghly districts of West Bengal.

Bangladesh: Registered as Khirsapati, primarily grown in the Chapai Nawabganj and Rajshahi regions.
