1. Appearance and Color
Exterior: The most defining feature of the Gulab Khas is its skin. It typically has a reddish-pink blush or deep rose-red color on a yellow-green base, which becomes more vibrant as it ripens.

Shape & Size: It is a small to medium-sized mango, often more oval or round compared to the elongated shape of a Dasheri or Langra.

Interior: The flesh (pulp) is a deep golden-yellow, which contrasts beautifully with its reddish skin.

2. Flavor and Aroma
Scent: True to its name (Gulab means rose), the fruit emits a distinct floral, rose-like fragrance that is noticeable even before the fruit is cut.

Taste: It offers a delicate, honey-like sweetness with subtle floral undertones.

Texture: The pulp is non-fibrous and very smooth, often described as "creamy" or "butter-like." Because it is fiber-free, it is highly sought after for eating fresh.

3. Usage and Popularity
Culinary Uses: Due to its lack of fiber and rich aroma, it is a favorite for making mango-based desserts, puddings, and Aamras (mango pulp).

Season: It is an early-to-mid season variety, usually appearing in markets between May and June.

Shelf Life: It has a relatively short shelf life compared to heartier varieties like Banganapalli, making it a "seasonal delicacy" that fans look forward to every year.
