The Chittidar Guava is a famous variation of the Allahabad Safeda and is considered one of the most visually distinct and delicious traditional Indian varieties. Its name is derived from the Hindi word "Chitti," which means "spots" or "dots," referring to the characteristic red freckles on its skin.

While it shares the same high quality as the Safeda, many enthusiasts believe the Chittidar is actually superior in sweetness.

1. Physical Characteristics
The "Dots": The most defining feature of this variety is the presence of numerous small, reddish-pink dots scattered over the skin as the fruit ripens. These dots are a sign of high sugar content and a marker of the variety's authenticity.

Skin: The base color is a pale, creamy yellow. The skin is very thin, smooth, and delicate.

Shape & Size: The fruits are typically round (spherical) and medium-sized, weighing between 150g and 250g.

Flesh: The interior is snow-white, very thick, and soft. It has a relatively small seed cavity.

Seeds: It contains seeds that are smaller and softer than most commercial varieties, making it very comfortable to eat fresh.

2. Flavor & Texture
Taste: It is widely regarded as one of the sweetest guavas in the world. It has a high sugar-to-acid ratio, resulting in a honey-like sweetness without the sharp tang found in pink varieties.

Texture: The flesh is "melting" and buttery. It lacks the gritty, sandy texture found in lower-quality guavas.

Aroma: It has a rich, classic tropical aroma that is pleasant and not overly musky.
