The Banana Mango (often called the Thai Banana Mango or Banango) is a unique, premium variety of mango primarily grown in Thailand, Bangladesh, and parts of India. It is famous for its distinct, elongated shape and remarkably fiberless texture.

Here is a breakdown of its key characteristics:

1. Appearance and Shape
Shape: Unlike the typical oval or kidney-shaped mango, this variety is long, thin, and slightly curved, closely resembling a banana.

Skin: When unripe, the skin is a pale green. As it matures, it turns a vibrant, glossy golden-yellow.

Size: The fruits typically weigh between 300g and 500g and can reach up to 15–18 inches in length in some sub-varieties.

2. Flavor and Texture
Taste: It is known for an intense, honey-like sweetness with a subtle, tropical aroma. Some enthusiasts describe a very faint hint of banana or vanilla in the aftertaste.

Texture: The flesh is deep orange-yellow, firm, and completely fiberless (no "strings" in the meat). This gives it a smooth, buttery consistency that melts in the mouth.

Seed: It features a very thin, flat stone (pit), meaning there is a higher ratio of edible fruit compared to other varieties.

3. Cultivation Details
Origin: While it has strong roots in Thailand, it has become a prized specialty in the Rajshahi and Chapai Nawabganj regions of Bangladesh and is increasingly popular in Indian nurseries.

Tree: The tree is evergreen and relatively compact (semi-dwarf), making it a popular choice for home gardens and even large pots on terraces.

Harvest: It is typically an early-season mango, with the main harvest occurring between May and July.

4. Culinary Uses
Because of its lack of fiber and high sweetness, the Banana Mango is highly versatile:

Fresh Eating: Best enjoyed sliced fresh or eaten out of hand.

Thai Delicacy: Often served with sticky rice and coconut milk.

Desserts: Ideal for smoothies, mousses, and sorbets because the pulp remains perfectly smooth when blended.
