Arka Kiran Pink Guava Hybrid Air Layered Plant

The Arka Kiran is a premium F1 hybrid guava developed by the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) in Bengaluru. It is famous for its striking "superfruit" status, combining a deep pink interior with a high concentration of lycopene.

Unlike some traditional pink varieties that can be slightly tart, Arka Kiran is celebrated for being both exceptionally sweet and soft-seeded.

1. Physical Characteristics
External Appearance: The fruit is medium-sized and round, typically weighing between 200g and 220g. The skin is smooth, greenish-yellow, and sometimes develops a slight pinkish blush on the "shoulders" when fully ripe.

Pulp: The interior is a vibrant, deep pink to ruby red. The flesh is firm yet juicy, providing a smooth eating experience without the grittiness common in wild varieties.

Seeds: One of its standout improvements over older pink varieties is its medium-soft seeds. While not entirely seedless, the seeds are much easier to chew and less intrusive.

2. Flavor & Nutritional Profile
Taste: It offers a rich, tropical sweetness balanced by a very mild acidity. It has a high TSS (Total Soluble Solids) of about 12–12.5° Brix, making it significantly sweeter than many commercial white varieties.

Aroma: It has a classic, musky guava fragrance that is quite potent when the fruit is ripe.

Lycopene Content: As a "functional food," it is packed with lycopene (approx. 7.14 mg per 100g), a powerful antioxidant. It also boasts roughly four times the Vitamin C of an orange.
