Shape: It has a "voluptuous" oval or ovate-oblique shape. It is typically medium-sized, weighing between 150g to 300g.

Skin: The skin is thin but firm and smooth. Interestingly, authentic Hapus skin may slightly wrinkle when it is perfectly ripe and at its sweetest.

Flavor Profile: It offers a complex, rich sweetness balanced with a very subtle, pleasant tartness. Many describe the flavor as having notes of honey, apricot, and vanilla.

Aroma: This is the most identifying feature. A single ripe Alphonso can fill an entire room with its intense, floral, and fruity fragrance. If it doesn't smell like a tropical paradise from a distance, it’s likely not an authentic Hapus.

Texture: The pulp is fiberless, buttery, and incredibly creamy. It has a "non-stringy" consistency that literally melts in your mouth.
