The Alphonso Hapus from Ratnagiri is widely considered the "King of Mangoes." Grown in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India, its unique profile is a result of the mineral-rich laterite soil and the salty sea breeze of the Arabian Sea.

1. Appearance & Color
Shape: Distinctively oval and robust, typically weighing between 200g to 300g.

Skin: Smooth, thin, and non-fibrous. When fully ripe, it turns a vibrant golden-yellow with a characteristic sunset-red or saffron blush near the stem.

Flesh: A deep saffron-orange color that is firm yet incredibly tender.

2. Flavor & Aroma
Taste: A complex, "nirvana-inducing" sweetness balanced by a very slight citrus tang. It is often described as having notes of honey, apricot, and nectarine.

Aroma: It has perhaps the most potent fragrance of any mango. A single ripe Ratnagiri Hapus can fill an entire room with its sweet, tropical scent.

Texture: Its most famous trait is being completely fiberless. The pulp has a buttery, creamy consistency that literally melts in the mouth.
