The Allahabad Safeda is widely considered the "Gold Standard" of Indian guavas. Originating from the city of Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in Uttar Pradesh, this variety is famous for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and lack of the "musky" odor sometimes associated with other guavas.

Here is a detailed breakdown of its characteristics:

1. Physical Characteristics
Shape & Size: The fruit is typically round to slightly spherical (unlike the oval/pear shape of some other varieties) and medium in size, usually weighing between 180g and 250g.

Skin: It has a very thin, smooth skin that is delicate. When ripe, the color transforms from a grassy green to a pale, creamy yellow. The skin is fully edible and often adds a nice resistance to the soft flesh.

Flesh: The interior is pure white to creamy white. It is notably thick and fleshy with a very small seed cavity.

Seeds: One of its most prized features is that the seeds are few, small, and soft. Unlike other varieties where seeds can be hard as rocks, the Safeda's seeds are easily chewed.

2. Flavor Profile
Taste: It is intensely sweet with a very balanced sugar-acid ratio. It lacks the sharp tartness of pink guavas, offering a mild, dessert-like sweetness instead.

Texture: The flesh is soft, melting, and almost buttery. It does not have the granular or "sandy" grit (stone cells) found in wild guavas.

Aroma: It has a distinct, pleasant fragrance that is sweet but not overpowering.
