Thai Golden 8 Guava Hybrid Air Layered Plant

The Thai Golden 8 (also known as Golden-8 or Thai G8) is a relatively new and highly sophisticated hybrid that has quickly become a "connoisseur’s choice." It was developed to solve the main complaint about jumbo Thai guavas: that they are often too mild or "watery."

The Golden 8 is prized for being a high-sugar, jumbo-sized variety that maintains a perfect apple-like crunch.

1. Physical Characteristics
Size: This is a jumbo variety. Fruits are consistently large, typically weighing between 400g and 800g. In ideal conditions, they can easily exceed the size of a large grapefruit.

Skin: The skin is light green with a slightly bumpy or "waxed" texture. As it ripens, it turns a beautiful golden-yellow hue (hence the name "Golden"). The skin is thin and lacks any bitterness.

Flesh: The interior is snow-white, extremely thick, and very dense. It has one of the smallest seed cavities of any seeded variety, meaning there is almost no "hollow" space in the center.

Seeds: It is classified as soft-seeded. The few seeds it has are small and can be easily chewed without any discomfort.

2. Flavor & Texture
The "Golden" Taste: What sets the G8 apart is its sweetness. While many Thai varieties have a Brix (sugar level) of 8–9, the Golden 8 often reaches 12–14° Brix. It has a rich, honey-like sweetness with a subtle floral aftertaste.

Texture: It is renowned for its "Extra Crunch." Even when fully ripe and sweet, the flesh remains crisp and does not turn mushy. This makes it a favorite for people who prefer the texture of a crisp pear or apple over a soft custard.

Aroma: It has a light, fruity fragrance that is less "musky" than traditional Indian guavas.
